Cranbury Brook Farm
This is a birth that just recently took place here at Cranbury Brook Farm.  The doe who birthed was Clover ... pictures are in sequential order.
About 3 hours prior to the "birthing bubble" appearing, Clover was heavily discharging.  Once the bubble appeared, birthing was quick to follow.  Never wait more than 30 minutes once the bubble appears.  After picture 1, Clover lied down and the bubble went back in ... upon standing again, the bubble reappeared (see Pic 2) with the baby inside.  This process is quite fast, taking only a few minutes.
Once the complete baby is out, I do intervene and quickly clean off the face (always have clean rags nearby) and wipe all the mucous from the nose and mouth.  It is also at this time that I clamp the cord about 1" from the babies navel.  Make sure you clamp or tie BEFORE you cut it (unless the doe does this).
Also remember to dip the baby's navel in iodine right up to the tummy - very important to prevent navel ill.
Here is the 1st baby (buckling) born.  Notice that I've already dipped the navel in iodine.
This is the 2nd baby (doeling) born only a few minutes later ...
